In celebration of Community College Month and the 75th Anniversary of the Fulbright Program, we're highlighting the contributions of outstanding Fulbright Specialists who are exemplifying the Fulbright Program’s mission of developing mutual understanding between the United States and partner nations, sharing knowledge across communities, and improving lives around the world.
We invite established faculty and professionals from U.S. community colleges and two-year institutions to a virtual information session to learn more about the Fulbright Specialist Program and meet program alumni!
This online information session will include an overview of the program and topics such as:
• Eligibility requirements;
• Benefits for participating Specialists; and
• Application processes and deadlines.
You will also hear from two program alumni to learn about their Fulbright experiences, as well as how serving as a Specialist has led to international collaborations and opportunities to internationalize their U.S. campuses:
Dr. Danixia Cuevas is a professor at the Law Center: Paralegal Studies Department at Miami Dade College (MDC) in Florida. With over twenty years of experience as a paralegal studies professor, her area of interest is on increasing access to justice by utilizing paralegals in government and NGO operations within the city of Miami. Dr. Cuevas received a Fulbright Specialist award to India in 2016 to assist the National Law University of Delhi (NLU Delhi) to create a National Paralegal Education Training Program, and returned as a Specialist in 2019 to train NLU Delhi Law faculty to incorporate the use of technology into their teaching. During the 2016-2017 academic year, she also successfully spearheaded efforts to host a colleague from NLU-Delhi at MDC as the institution’s first ever Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence.
Jonathon Little is a professor at State University of New York – Monroe Community College, where he leads the Geospatial Information Science (GIS) program. He has also served as Principal Investigator for several grants to enhance workforce, professional development and education opportunities in GIS Technology in the United States and overseas. Little received a Fulbright Specialist award in 2019 to Kazakh State AgroTechnical University in order to teach a course for faculty on introductory remote sensing and its applications to agriculture, and train faculty on remote sensing course design and materials development.
