Information Session and Alumni Speaker Panel: STEM Education

Join us for an in-depth look at the Fulbright Specialist Program and hear from a panel of Fulbright Specialist alumni. This online information session will include an overview of the program, including topics such as: 

• Eligibility requirements;
• Benefits for participating Specialists; and
• Application process.

Fulbright Specialist Program staff will answer attendee questions during this presentation, and you will also from two Fulbright Specialist alumni:

Terence Cavanaugh is a Professor of Instructional Technology at the University of North Florida's College of Education and Human Services and a Fulbright Specialist. With over 35 years of experience in education, including 17 years as a middle and high school science teacher, his work spans the intersection of technology integration, curriculum design, and science education with particular focus on digital textbooks and educational accessibility. As a Fulbright Specialist in Tuvalu, he worked with the Ministry of Education and secondary schools to enhance science curriculum and pedagogy to improve student outcomes in the Pacific Secondary School Certificate examination. Terry holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Instructional Technology from the University of South Florida.

Denise Yates is an Administrative Officer at Howard University in Washington, DC. With over 25 years in higher education, she champions diversity in STEM and international research opportunities for underrepresented students. Denise has developed numerous global partnerships with countries around the world, adapting U.S. models of student support for international contexts, and served as a Fulbright Specialist in France at the Universite Toulouse III-Paul Sabatier. Previously, she was a co-PI for the LSAMP NSF International Center of Excellence and directed the NSF LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Denise holds degrees in Human Development Counseling and Child, Family & Community Services from the University of Illinois, Springfield.
